“Let me speak to a person”: hand a bot conversation to an agent without another interrogation

A bot can help with the first question, but the route to an employee must work. Review handoff conditions, context and an unavailable queue.

Illustrative example: a buyer has explained the problem to a bot, selected three menu options and finally requested a person. The agent opens with “Tell me what happened.” A small digital relay has become a repeat lap.

A chatbot is software that answers through configured rules or artificial intelligence. Its usefulness depends on knowing when to yield to an employee as well as giving answers.

Define the handoff moment first

Describe when the bot should stop answering independently: an explicit request for an employee, repeated misunderstanding, an unsupported question or an individual decision.

These are requirements for the chosen bot, not a promise of a universal built-in feature. Check which events your application actually recognises. Do not let a bot confirm exceptional discounts or disputed commitments merely because it writes confidently.

Customers need an obvious exit before a lengthy conversation. Do not hide it in a “select another section” quest.

Configure the route to an operator in Bitrix24

An Open Channel brings customer messages together and distributes them to employees. The official instructions describe assigning an installed bot, the time before transfer to a queue and bot disconnection on handoff. They specify sending 0 to reach an operator earlier.

Test that route in the channel you use. A free-text “let me speak to a person” request and the specified numeric command are different mechanisms. If the application does not understand the phrase, clearly explain its supported command.

Channel settings do not guarantee compatibility with every bot. A company in Kyrgyzstan should separately check its plan, the application's regional conditions and the connected channel's limits. Confirm availability and costs against current conditions.

Transfer the conversation, not just a notification

Agree what the agent must see: the original question, answers already collected, chosen language and unresolved point. Do not gather data “just in case.”

If the bot creates a short summary, treat it as guidance and retain a way to check the conversation. Pay particular attention to amounts, dates and promises. If summaries are unsupported, work from conversation history rather than declare automatic summarisation mandatory.

An employee's first response should acknowledge context: “I see your delivery question and the city you selected. I'll check the available option.” Only use this if the information really appears in the conversation.

A queue is not an available person

Assign employees, check their availability and the channel's working hours. Set an understandable response when nobody answers. Do not say “an agent is joining” while a conversation only awaits assignment.

Check that the bot does not keep competing with the employee for the last word after transfer. One participant should own the response at that point. Test the specific application's behaviour separately.

For an unavailable queue, agree a real next step: working-hours information or another verified contact method. Do not promise a deadline the team cannot control.

Test the exit as well as the greeting

Test a request for a person, an unfamiliar question, a repeated message and an unavailable agent. Check both customer and employee views: who receives the conversation, whether context is visible and what is sent after transfer.

A useful quality check is the share of conversations asking again for information already supplied. Define your sample and counting method first; this article provides no company-specific statistics.

Discuss customer communication setup during Bitrix24 implementation with QQDev: where questions arrive, where the bot's role ends and who takes the baton. Verify the specific application's capabilities before choosing a solution. Good automation lets a person join at the right time.
